I purchased an antique copy of Pinocchio, the children’s classic story that was later made into a classic Walt Disney film, at our local library today for $1.00. I brought it home and started doing some research on the book. Here are a few things that I found out about this particular book, and Pinocchio in general.
The book was published in 1940 by Rand McNally & Company out of Chicago, Illinois. Coincidentally, this is the same year that the Walt Disney classic animated film was also released. The book is one of a series of books that Rand McNally & Company released as part of the “Windermere Series” of children’s classics. This series was published, and I am just guessing from similar books that I have read about today, from 1916 to 1940. This would be one of the later books of that series.
I mentioned Pizza and a Book night in my last Brief Moment, but since we have had a few of these and I am starting to get a few books read, I thought it might be a good idea to get a Page set-up on Brief Moments of Happiness to list what I have read. This is mostly for my own amusement, but you may find something of interest there. I will try to post about each book I read, then link it up to The Reading List page.
I do read quite a bit from the Bible, too. I may record what I am reading there and give a list of verses. Once again, this is just to keep myself in line and to know what I have read.
Pizza night!! Wednesday nights have become pizza and a book night at our house. Cassie and I both believe that the television is just about worthless and spend a lot of time reading. Elizabeth and Isabel go to their dad’s for the evening, which leaves momma and me to spend a nice enjoyable night relaxing with a book and pizza.
